Guest guest
Did UHC cover the Hanger band then? From: cranialmom <cranialmom@...>Subject: Re: Locations that offer the STARband and/or HangerPlagiocephaly Date: Tuesday, April 6, 2010, 9:39 AM There is a Hanger office in Bethesda, Md. We went to the CT in ndale and was denied by our insurance, we have UHC as well. My daughter just got her band actually in Bethesda and so far so good.>> ,> > I believe there is a Starband provider in Columbia, MD and a Hanger provider in andria. My daughter(almost 9 months) just completed 1 month in the KidCap. So far, we are very pleased with the results. Our daughter grew 3mm in the very flat spot on her back right side(right tilt tort) in only 3 weeks. She really looks great already. I live in the Washington, DC area and was wondering if anyone knows of places that offer the STARband or Hanger. I've been to Cranial Tech but want to check out all options plus my insurance, UHC won't pay for the DOC Band. Hope someone can offer suggestions. Guest guest
Thanks Ramona. All I know is that we have UHC Choice Plus PPO. I think I will check out Hanger and maybe we'll be covered there. So, I'm not sure if your plan is the same. But, Hanger (we looked at the one in Reston) and Starband in Columbia are in network. MDIPA requires authorization before they will cover the band. I know you are far from Columbia, but it might be worth checking it out anyway. Ramona> >> > ,> > > > I believe there is a Starband provider in Columbia, MD and a Hanger provider in andria. Guest guest
You may have to really push when you call. THe first 3 times that I called, I was told by MDIPA that there was an exclusion in our coverage. But, when star cranial submitted the paperwork, we received a letter saying that there was an exclusion, but that Hanger would be covered. It made no sense at all. Even when I called to confirm what the letter said, the lady on the phone told me there was no coverage. It wasn't until I really pushed and she did some more looking that she told me that they would cover a band from Hanger. That's why we wasted too much time before finding out in enough time to check out Hanger. If had been considerably younger, we might have ended up with a Hanger band and paid considerably less. But, given their time frame, and given my lack of time to find out if they were any good, we couldn't risk it. There definately are a lot of Hanger locations in our area. Guest guest
The funny thing is what the heck's the difference between the Hanger Band and DOC Band when it comes to insurance??? They are both used to treat the same thing so it makes no sense that the Hanger would be paid for and the DOC wouldn't. Gotta love insurance companies! Well Hanger in Reston quoted me $2500 without insurance so if insurance possibly will pay for it it may be worth while going there.
