MGB dissertation

For anyone thinking about having MGB with Dr. Rutledge-hello.

Some people have said that they do not like the hoops that MGB hopefuls have

to jump thru in order to be " approved " by Dr. Rutledge. Hmmm-too bad!

Maybe Dr. R wants a dissertation so he knows that the patient knows what is

happening to his/her body during MGB. Maybe he wants to be sure the patient

understands the risks and how serious this surgery is. What are all of the

possible consequences? Wow-what do you think of that? A doctor who

actually cares that his patients understand what their surgery is going to

do to them!

Also, maybe Dr. Rutledge's office just needs some notebooks and scrap paper

and that is why he asks for a dissertation. Maybe Dr. Rutledge has a family

member who works for FedEx and he wants to make sure they have job security.

Or maybe Dr. Rutledge just wants some reading material to look at between

surgeries.

Ego? Who has the bigger ego? Dr. Rutledge who forces us to make sure MGB

is right for us or someone who thinks they already know it all without doing

the dissertation? Dr Rutledge opened egroup lists for preops and postops

and gets battered about on Truth-(gotta love that name, not). If there are

other WLS surgeons doing this I don't know where they are.

You may recall that I am the person who knows of 3 people who have had RNY.

They were clueless going in and even more clueless now. They are asking me

questions! Where are their doctors? Playing golf?

Well, I am glad I did my dissertation. I knew what was happening to me and

I am very comfortable with my decision. I am really glad I was " forced " to

do the research. I was glad I had to ask for the support letters too

because it made my family aware of what was going on and the possible

ramifications.

I can honestly say that my eyes were open and I don't see why anyone would

want to go into any WLS without doing a dissertation even if the Dr. never

looked at it.

I am not a Rutledge worshipper, but I do respect him a lot. I have NO

respect for a former Rutledge worshipper (read also paranoid

schizophrenic-imho) who got a bee up her butt. There is really something

wrong there. ly, she scares the bejesus out of me....

Also, does anyone else think it is strange that someone who has spent so

much time " playing with the big boys in Federal Court " and who is a

" retiring " big name lawyer and so on and so on has no money and lives in a

rundown house in rural Alabama all by herself and spends A LOT of time on

the WEB raising hackles and looking for a " frenchman " ???? AND she's asking

Dr. Rutledge for a job???? AND people are actually enamored of her? I know

she helped some people thru their insurance hassles-that's great, but now

look at what she is doing. She sure had better not be calling me or my

family!
