Nystatin antifungal med for hearing loss!?

Hello my dear friends....it's Connie H...and I just stumbled on something that might help those of you with hearing problems associated with RP. I was looking up Nystatin, an antifungal med that I've taken for the last couple of years to counteract any yeast problems that might develop due to my being on antibiotics for the past 5 years. (For those of you who don't know my story, please search the archives of Rpolychondritis or go to http://www.rheumatic.org/connie.htm )

Anyway......I found an article about auto-immune hearing loss that was "accidentally" treated with Nystatin, and several subsequent patients' hearing improved. Now that I think about it....a couple of years ago I was having dizziness....to the point where I went to an ENT. It seems like it was also around that time (why didn't I write things down better!) that I started taking Nystatin (doctor prescribed) for a building thrush/fungus/yeast problem.......and my dizziness subsided, but I didn't connect the two. Nystatin, unlike most meds, has no known side effects and it's been in use for many years....developed by two women :-) sorry guys :-)

Here's the article (if you can't get it to work, let me know because I'm going to bookmark this one) http://www.mwilliamson.com/hearingloss.htm

Cathy Conrad......I almost cried when I read your story about Caitlin. You, your awesome faith and strength, and God will get you and Caitlin through this! Know that I'm thinking of you and saying prayers.

Also, Cathy.....I've heard of the Rife treatment! and even know a few that swear by it. Have you read any of Hulda 's information? She has similar theories to Royal Rife.

As for me.....I'm still working! and loving every minute! , you asked me once where I worked.....I hesitated until I felt comfortable in my job, and so far my boss is amazed at all I can do (I haven't told her my whole story....but one of my coworkers has a daughter with juvenile RA and you can believe I've already told her about my success with the antibiotic protocol :-) I work for Junior Achievement and it is wonderful! I get to be the liaison person who matches business people with teachers wanting a volunteer business consultant to give a series of packaged lessons to her/his class. It's a great program.

As for the rest of you........huge hugs to all of you! I've missed you all! I won't even start to name names because I know I'll leave someone out, and even those of you I haven't "met", I bet you've already discovered that you've landed with the greatest group of people!

I'd better go for now......the only bad thing about working is the fact that my cooking is suffering....not that I ever cooked anyway, ha! Sending lots of love, Connie H
