how to proceed

For anyone interested-here is how I proceeded to get my MGB

1. downloaded manual and read front to back-scoured clos.net site and joined

egroup:)

2. made decision to go for it

3. filled out online form (at that time Dr R sent letter to insurance)

4. wait for ins approval (took 2 days after they received the letter)

5. made PCP appt and sent patient manual with cover letter so she would know

what I was planning and what I needed from her

6. wrote patient letter, nagged husband for support letter, told children

about the surgery and they wrote a support letter also, and got picture

taken (digital camera-printed out on regular paper)

7. contact post ops for packet-Barbara snail mailed a list that had surgery

dates of post ops. I sent off a flurry of emails to the " oldest " post ops,

but a lot of the addresses came back " unable " . I ended up talking via email

and phone to 8 postops who were +1yr out and the other two (both email) were

FLO and LT. (Thank you)

8. PCP visit and mammo done.

9. Wait, wait, wait for mammo results (the bloodwork results I got the day

after my PCP visit) and wait for physical results, and Dr support letter

(which sucked!)

10. Put packet together and sent off. MAKE A COPY!!! Dr. Rutledge lost my

packet and I did not make a copy. I started whole process all over (after

crying for a day) and then Barbara called to tell me my packet had been

found and I was approved.

11. Scheduled my clinic visit. I wanted this out of the way before I

scheduled my surgery.

12. Had clinic visit and scheduled surgery date.

13. Had EKG and bloodwork done.(within 30 days stuff) took these results

with me to the hospital, but no one ever took them....

14. Made hotel reservations (Homewood Suites-take a can opener)and got some

info from AAA and internet about Durham area.

15. Got house in order, office in order, packed all my stretchiest

clothes (you may be bloated after surgery.

16. Barbara called in meds to my pharmacy 3 days before surgery. Picked up

some Hybiclens (small bottle 4oz? $6.00), MOM, etc

17. Off to Durham! Last meal-Mexican near hotel(tasty-mmmm) desert-Haagan

Daaz Ice Cream Bar.

18. Danced with Doc! \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/
