Guest guest
Called the covering doc for my new GI...didn't like him AT ALL!! Glad I didn't get stuck w/him!! He was sort of condescending (at least I thought he was!) to me..said after I told him what meds I'm on - " You DO realize that you are on a tremendous amount of narcotics don't you? " Uh, yeah...I'm the one taking them you know? (didnt actually say that but was thinking it!!) Then said, " well, since you ARE on such a tremendous dosage of narcotics on an outpatient basis there really isn't anything more I can do for you and I would suggest that you try and ride it out until Dr. Akerman (my new GI doc) is back on Monday. " I could hear stuff going on in the background so god forbid maybe I interrupted his golf game or a party or something!! When I pressed him on whether or not I could have ER Staff call him should I get so bad that I needed to go there he DID say that yes, they could call him and he would suggest to them (and he said I might want to try and suggest it to ER personnel when I first get there BEFORE they call him to go TPN for a couple of days. Last night I was almost at the point of going but didn't want to awaken my poor exhausted hubby or call my daughter (which would have meant also waking up my 2 granddaughters)...I'm a bit better today but that's because I've taken it upon myself for the short term to up my patches. I took a 50mcg patch which I had left over, cut it in 1/2 (yes, I know you're not supposed to do that!) and put this on in addition to my prescribed dosage of 150mcgs changing every 48 hrs. I had to take about 8 Percocets yesterday in addition to this....but thankfully, today have only had 2. Pain not as bad today so I'm thankful for that as well. At any rate, this has been a pretty bad flareup and I don't see any other real trigger than the bowel interaction...(see my other post for INTERESTING stuff re: bowels, LOL!!) Oh well, just thought I'd consult the experts and see what you all think...please don't lecture me on the cutting up a patch thing. Really am just trying avoid ER at all costs!! Thanks for listening as always
