So sorry you had to go through this. I don't have SOD, but I too, don't get good results with Morphine. I tried it months ago when we were searching for the right pain meds for me, and the morphine just didn't do a thing for my pain. Janssen isn't open on the weekends, dear. Call them tomorrow, their offices are open Monday through Friday, and they are great about sending out the Bioclusive adhesive films. I use those now every time I put on my patch and they stick so well that they're hard as the dickens to get off again, but at least you don't have to worry about the patch coming loose too early. And ask again if the doctor will switch you to the 48 hour dose period, instead of 72. It's worked so well for me, and I haven't had to upgrade my dosage from 75 mgs. to higher because of this. Sorry again that you had such an awful weekend of pain. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina SC & SE Regional Rep. Guest guest
, I'd been wondering how you are doing. I'm sorry to hear that you are still experiencing alot of pain. Please, remember that this WILL get better in time. But the main thing is to keep the pain meds flowing and keep yourself comfortable so you can heal. Yes, I am aware that morphine can cause worse pain with SOD. Funny, cause that is what they gave me with my first sphincterotomy. I ended up back in the ER with 1 hour of leaving the ERCP clinic in Philly. All they would give me was morphine because too many drug addicts were coming in for demerol and such. So for the next two days in the hospital, they gave me morphine. I ended up signing myself out on the second evening because some " quacks " decided that I had " slipped rib syndrome " and were wanting me to set up out-patient cortisone shots in the ribs !!! I knew that I was having an attack from the ERCP so I left...one of the best moves I made. Sorry...got off track for a minute there. Anyway, it is good to hear from you and know that you are still fighting this pain at home. The ER doesn't really know what to do anyway. Even Dr. Lehman told me that !! He actually called me on my cell when I was on my way to the ER because the pain was sooo bad (1 week post-sphincterotomy). He said to go home and medicate myself more until I was comfortable. Needless to say, I followed his orders and felt better within a couple of hours. Please try to keep yourself comfortable. It really does help with the healing preocess. Take care Kris in TN
