Guest guest
Cecilia, I have osteoporosis. Although I did not take fosamax, I did take Actonel for a while. I don't think it will matter if you wait till after your surgery to start taking the fosamax. Definitely talk to your doctor about it first though. I do know that when I took the Actonel, I had to remain upright for 30 minutes after I took the medication so it would not cause problems in the esophagus. Maybe that is why they are telling you to wait till you are healed from the surgery so you aren't in the laying down position after taking the medication. I now take Forteo. It is a new injectable med for osteoporosis. It is suppose to build back the bone loss I have suffered. I guess I will know in 2 years time if it did it's job. That is when I stop taking it and then I may have to go back to taking something like fosamax or actonel to maintain my bone mineral density. I hope everything goes well with your upcoming surgery. Did you say that you too go to Dr. Lehman?? Sorry I can't remember. Take care, Kris in TN
