Guest guest
Hi all, We just got back from our parents education day and it was really good. One of the best speakers was a lawyer, Beth Sufian. She has CF and works specifically with families on CF legal issues. She gave a lot of really great info on the laws in place that protect people with CF and or how to use them to help you. She spoke about options for keeping insurance coverage as well as what is available (HIPAA, SSI, COBRA .). She also talked a lot about IEPs and 504 plans, accommodations for college and funding options available for people with CF and lots of other information that she said the insurance companies don't want you to know. She has a CF Legal Information Hotline 1- too. If you have any input in who your clinic chooses for their ed day, I highly recommend having her come speak. I would also not hesitate to call her with questions; she's a wealth of information. We also heard a lot of great info on the research being done. We left feeling very hopeful! Take care, Mom to Ellie 15mo wCF and Jack 3 1/2yrs noCF
