Guest guest
Hi, I am new to the group and I am seeking advice. My daughter was diagnosed with moderate plagiocephaly at her 4 month check up. My pediatrician recommended repositioning and waiting until 6 months and see if there was improvement, if not then consider banding. From my researcy it seems to me, that the earlier you start banding the better. However, I do not want to put her or my family through unnecessary stresses if not needed. We will have to drive 2 1/2 - 3 hours each way to get to cranial tech, which would mean 5 -6 hours in the car each week with 3 kids. Does repositioning work? I should note that I had noticed the flattening at 2 months and had been working on repositioning before the 4 month visit. The pediatrician said a lot can happen between 4 -6 months. She has good symmetry on her face, and her left ear is just a little forward but I didn't notice it until the doctor pointed it out. Thanks,
Guest guest
I agree with most posters because it matches my experience. The ped noticed the flattening at 2 months. We repositioned and saw good improvement at 4 months. Keep repositioning until 6 months, but it was still there, so that's when we banded (actually, he didn't get the band til 8 months because of insurance delays, etc.) He graduates in 1 week and he'll be 11 and a half months old. He was only banded for 3 months. So, based on my experience, I'd say just wait. Maybe you'll get some of the flatness fixed with repositioning and the rest can be fixed with a band. I think you'll end up having your child in the band for less time in all that way. Let us know what you do > > Hi, > I am new to the group and I am seeking advice.
