Guest guest
When I had my pre operative visit with the surgeon I gave her a list of all meds that would or could cause pancreatitis. So I was pretty safe in that department. The nurse from the hospital even called me the day before surgery to discuss all the meds that I take, etc.. anyway, she stated that they might have trouble getting my pain under control because I already take a strong pain medicine. I had no idea what to expect. I just thought that they would have to give me a stronger dose. (like 100mg of demerol or something). But what they were doing was, giving me 50mg doses of demerol every half hour or so and the dose would work for 15-20 minutes and then I was in horrible pain again. I personally think that if they had given me a higher dose of demerol then I would have been more comfortable. I also believe that the nurses on staff there did not have any experience with pancreatitis. That explains why I got all the questioning. When I got home, I took 2 doses of my pain meds (demerol 50mg), and then I finally had some relief. Kris
