Guest guest
Hi Lu, I have an appointment with my PCP Wednesday morning. How are you doing? How are your feet? Hope they are not giving you too much trouble. Hugs, Sandy -- Re: Sandy Gee Sandy, You should call the doctor or go see one, your right you don't know what is going on and falling out with a sharp pain to the head could be many things, which I won't go into. But please let him know about this soon. I pray you start feeling better soon. I'm so happy is doing better. I love you! Lu Had my daughter and grandkids over for dinner last night and got up from the table and fell to the floor. I was not dizzy nor did I lose consciousness. My daughter caught me before I hit my head. After I fell I got a severe pain in my right temple and my scalp felt like it was on fire. I have no clue as to what is going on. Guest guest
Hi Cath, Thanks for the info. My rheumy wanted me to have a biopsy for temporal arteritis 6 months ago but my eye doctor felt it wasn't necessary because the blood vessels in my eyes looked okay. I have been having pain in my right temple for some time. Hugs, Sandy -- Re: Sandy Hi Sandy: Cath here, trying to get caught up on lots of e-mails. Have you had a SED rate done recently. There is something called temporal arteritis that is an inflammation of the main artery in the temporal area. It can cause pain in the temporal area and people say that is feels like their nerves are on fire in their scalp. Patients I work with say brushing their hair hurts them. Other symptoms associated are headache, neck stiffness, jaw pain, nausea, loss of weight (ha on Pred). It is real serious when it occurs and needs immediate treatment. Haven't seen a case where pain was only for a very short duration, but some with it do not have pain at all. Inflammation of the artery causes a decrease in the blood flow and can cause sudden decrease in vision in one or both eyes too. If it is temporal arteritis I know we have patients start on 80 mg of Pred and see a neurologist immediately. The SED rate can detect the condition, but sometimes SED rate comes back ok and they do a temporal artery biopsy and it is positive. Have even seen a few where they felt even though all results were negative, they felt they had it. In any case, I know if in question, we always start patients on Pred immediately because of potential problems and then start testing. In their minds, it is better or over treat on this than not treat due to problems that can occur. In any case, I am not a doctor so am just throwing this out for you in case it might help. I've been in the medical field for 19 years so have seen alot of cases of this. Hope this helps a little but under any circumstances, call your rheumy and speak with him immediately. Have him paged if not in. Hope everything is ok by now. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Take care, Cath Re: Sandy Gee Sandy, You should call the doctor or go see one, your right you don't know what is going on and falling out with a sharp pain to the head could be many things, which I won't go into. Guest guest
Oh Sandy that makes me SOOO mad!! For you!! And these drs don't even care that they could have caused BIG problems for us. I bought a new drug book that is wonderful... It is called "The Essential Guide to Prescription Drugs 2002" By J. Rybacki, Pharm. D. The price was $19.95 but I did get it on sale. Check it out. It is wonderful and explains eveything so we can understand it. Did you get another drug to replace the Prozac? I just want you well. You know I worry so much about you. Please rest a bit for me! Boy you are going to town in the sewing dept. I asked for a sewing machine for Christmas... think Santa will listen???? Maybe if you slowed down a bit girl you might have some energy and red blood cells. LOL You know I love ya bunches and want you well. Let us know how the tests turn out and know you are in my prayers. hugs Dumb me filled the script before researching the drug. Well, there was a big warning for Diabetics that Prozac can cause your blood sugars to drop. One of the rare side effects is it can cause Vascullitis. Got that already
Guest guest
, The book sounds like something I need. I'll have to put that on my Christmas list. My PCP put me on Effexcor. (sp.) He also doubled my daily Ultram dose. My Rheumy would only let me take 2 Ultram a day. Sure hope Santa gets the message and gets you that sewing machine. Sewing relaxes me, and since I don't have the energy to do housework I spend my time sewing. It does not take much energy to sit at the machine. LOL It also lets me feel like I've accomplished something. Hugs, Sandy Oh Sandy that makes me SOOO mad!! For you!! And these drs don't even care that they could have caused BIG problems for us. Guest guest
Oh come on! A size 14 is not grossly obese. I absolutely detest this idea that women have to be skinny to be beautiful. I think the grossest thing is a women who sternum and ribs stick out because she is so skinny. (Pancreatitis victims are excepted here!) They should cover themselves so we don't have to look at their emaciated, gaunt, raw-boned excuse for pulchritude. Those gals have arms so thin it is ludicrous. They look disgusting. You have to look like an Auschwitz victim to be considered gorgeous today. That is just a lot of nonsense. Large curvy women are absolutely stunning in my book. You can take those skinny looking, ugly wenches and stick them down a sewer. Just my opinion folks! Guest guest
Jerry, thanks, it's so refreshing to hear a man talk like that. I don't know who thought a woman who looks like she's got anorexia is gorgeous, but they should have been shot to bring up such an opinion. (from another large woman, also with hypothyroidism).
