Guest guest
Elaine believed in having a well balanced diet, she did not want us to overeat any food including meat. Have you been checked for clostridia? There is a specific protocol for clostridia. I hope that you will get relief using that protocol. Use the search engine on Elaine's website to get the info on clostridia. mimi > I would like to know if anyone has problems with > indigestion/heartburn etc...I have been SCD for 5 years now. Guest guest
Thanks so much for the advice, I just looked into it and I have now come up with another question. Might there be other, undiscovered bugs similar to clostridia that diet alone and or acidophilus will not address. I would imagine Elaine considered this possibility. I have started using the other probiotics to address this possibility. What do you think? > > I would like to know if anyone has problems with > > indigestion/heartburn etc...I have been SCD for 5 years now. It > > saved my life from Crohn's disease. Guest guest
I certainly don't think it's a good idea to use the Primal Defense product. Aside from the fact that it contains illegals, there have been some kids here on this list who have not done well at all on Primal Defense. Elaine had a particularly negative point of view on this product, and its " soil based " organisms.... and felt that experimenting with such unknowns was very unwise. If you've experienced difficulties after eating large quantities of meat, that's probably a good example to illustrate why Elaine always recommended a balance of vegetables, fruits, nuts, protein foods and legal dairy products. You need the fiber, for one thing. Just having the food sitting in the gut for too long (things move through much slower with an absence of fiber) might allow some gut flora to get out of control. For example, even a normal, healthy gut contains *some* candida yeast..... it's actually supposed to be there... but, if gut flora is out of balance, it will tend to take over. Very opportunistic. I also personally think that a high volume of meat, with very little veggies and fruits, allows the entire body to become too acidic.... which is not a healthy state to be in. Many fresh fruits and veggies help to alkalinize and keep a balanced pH..... where the " good guys " can flourish. I don't know exactly what the explanation for your indigestion would be.... or the mucous running down your throat. It's possible that the " high dose antibiotics " you've had to take have thrown everything in your body out of balance again.... and building back a healthy biofilm in your gut will take a lot of time. Have you tried homemade fermented veggies? These have to be made in an SCD legal way, and are not for beginners.... but might be a good thing for you to try. Let me know and I can post the instructions. It also may be that you could benefit from adding the s.boulardii strain..... which is a legal probiotic. Also, have you ever tried enzymes? Patti HELP! Upper GI distress and other questions I would like to know if anyone has problems with indigestion/heartburn etc...I have been SCD for 5 years now. It saved my life from Crohn's disease. However, in the last year or so I have had fatigue, severe burping and indigestion. Also, during these indigestion attacks I get a lot of mucous running down my throat. It gets worst if I go to the gym and get my blood moving. I have been on high dose antibiotics like 3 or 4 times in the last two years and have eaten excessively (especially honey and meat) at times, although not in the last 2 months. My stools have been and still are perfect (except for some putrefaction as described below). Any suggestions on what can be the cause of all of this? Anyone experience this? I am thinking candida so I started making kefir and taking primal defense (2 months now)(I know it's illegal but I figured I would give it a fair chance because even if it does feed nasties it still is a very potent probiotic) Also there are a few other questions on my mind. What do people here feel about putrefactive dysbiosis. (I've experienced this myself as I used to eat way too much meat and not enough fiber: constipation, thin hard stools, bleeding, fatigue, very smelly gas) If there are some nasty bugs that feed on meats, fats, proteins wont the SCD do more harm than good? I am asking this because it is obvious to me that some bug is causing all the gas and disturbances, however I dont know if its feeding on excessive fat, protein, sugar or food in general. Secondly, how does one know if they should increase their use of probiotics. Can't there be some hardy strains of bad bugs that could only be wiped out by using larger amounts of probiotics? I've tried every thing. I cant tell the difference between symptoms and dieoff and do not know how long to give things a try for. Please help! Thank you very much, sorry about all the different questions.
