Guest guest
SSI is Supplemental Security Income (not social security) and is largely federally funded; it is income only for the poor; Medicaid always comes with it, but in many states, even if one is quite poor, one does get Medicaid, and usually Food Stamps with SSI, or without it, provided one's income is low enough--thus both are " entitlement " programs by virtue of poverty, not eligibility programs like Social Security and Medicare--although we all, when we work, pay taxes into all these programs. One can search this by typing Medicare, Medicaid, SSDI (Social Security for the Disabled), SSA (the retirement variety of SS), etc. by topic on the web and then picking one's own state for more information.
