Guest guest
, With pancreatitis as bad as it can get, the last thing you should be concerned about it taking medicine. Being in pain 24/7 is NO WAY of life. And the feeling of being a drug seeker is quite common within our circle....although WE ALL KNOW we are not drug seeking for recreational use but for medicinal use. Many people on this site are on the patch and they seem to function quite normally on it. In my opinion Ultracet is NO KIND of pain reliever at all, so it's no surprise to me that you find no relief there. As far as the percocet, you don't say if your on 5's or 10's. There are many strengths. Perhaps you just need a higher dose. I am allergic to vicodin so I get to take darvocet for my pain and it barely cuts it but I am able to function when I am on it and it takes some of the edge off so that helps. For severe pain I have percocet 5's and have said at this stage I don't want anything stronger. I have learned to incorporate Lamaze techniques to help with the management of pain. Have you tried that? Go discuss pain meds and what is available to you and keep an open mind. But honestly, with CP the last thing you should be concerned with is becoming a drug abuser or becoming addicted. Someone on this board put an answer to being afraid of becoming addicted so eloquently and exact, and I am sorry that I can't remember exactly how they said it, but what I said is the gist of it. But this is just my opinion.
