Guest guest
Hello all, I have just come from the ER with my 13 year old son who has been complaining of abdominal pain (ruq) for 5 days. No nausea....today he said a little, but very little, no vomiting, no back pain, no jaundice, nothing but pretty severe right pain. The PA did an ultrasound and blood work and urine sample and said all was fine. He initially thought pancreatitis, gallstones or ulcer. He gave me a diagnosis of peptic ulcer. I was also smart enough to get copies of all labs before I left. I specifically asked the PA about A & L levels which he told me were completely normal. I just checked them myself and my kids Lipase level is 153. Almost twice what it should be. Amylase is very low and normal at 27. Whats up with an elevated Lipase only? Is that consistent with a peptic ulcer? Can it be normal period? Can anyone please help me with this, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks Sandy in Ca
