Guest guest
If you think she needs the band then definitely have her evaluated by someone else. And lots have parents have successfully banded much later than 10 months, it's just that growth for improvement is much slower and not as drastically different when infants are banded at younger ages. We use the Dallas clinic and I have not been as happy as the vast majority of DOCBand parents. Please do not let that stop you though from going to this clinic. It is a much larger clinic than the Cranial Tech in Austin and of the many parents I've seen going in and out, no one appears the least bit unhappy except me. My unhappiness with CT in Dallas stems from their reluctance/inability to answer my questions about her growth and if it was normal (and apparently the pediatrician's because he called after my second attempted visit to get answers from them). We are now seeing a cranio-facial specialist to determine if my daughter has craniosyntosis. If this is the case, then my questions could not have been answered adequately by Cranial Technologies but they should have also answered honestly in that the ridges/indentions we see are not entirely normal either like they told me. (I have a post just a little ways back under " pros and cons of stopping DOC band treatment.... " ) It is a LONG way back to the US for the CT clinic in Dallas and if you do get the DOCband, I believe visits for a 10 month old are about every other week. Are you sure that is something you want to take on when there is a StarBand CLinic closer? Just something to consider and please know that I am not trying to talk you out of the Dallas Clinic. I do like our regular clinician, she is very nice and understanding and also one of the older clinicians there. And I am a bit happier now that they have promised we would see her every time instead of circling through whatever clinicians are available and our regular clinician has also worked with our cranio-facial specialist several times in the past. > > Hi everyone! > I wanted to get some feedback regarding my daughter. > She is 10 months old and has positional plagiocephaly on the right side of her face (head) and a little flatness to the back of her head. We live on a small military base in Japan and her Doctor here has said that she does have plagiocephaly but that she will grow out of it and has not recommended her for further treatment. I disagree with her doctor and decided to take her to Cranial Technologies in Dallas to have them evaluate her. Has anyone used this clinic, if so what was your experience? Also, has anyone put a helmet on their child at 10-11 months? > Thank you for your help. >
Guest guest
Glad you are on top of things more than I was. I complained to the dr who said oh she'll row out of it at 12month..At 14 months I made an appt to tell him no, she hadn't grown out of it. The it was a referal and a 3 month wait until we got the band. I would push for it. It can't hurt the baby or make it worse. A key thing I think that helped was.. my baby hasn't slept on her back in mooooonths. Ie repositioning her head wasn't going to happen and she hadn't been laying on that spot for forever so it "should" have normalized. So I'd push for it. I would like to get things going in case it doesn't, ok thanks. She depends on you being her advocate and you ultimately knows what's best. kim
Guest guest
My son was 1 day shy of 12 months when we took him to CT for his evaluation. By the time he received his band, he was just shy of 13 months. We have seen more change to his head in the 8.5 weeks he's been banded than in the MONTHS we sat around waiting for his head to " round out on it's own. " If you have the option of banding your child, go for it. I'm so happy we did it and try not to beat myself up over not having done it sooner. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted. > > Hi everyone! > I wanted to get some feedback regarding my daughter. > She is 10 months old and has positional plagiocephaly on the right side of her face (head) and a little flatness to the back of her head. Guest guest
Hello! We put a helmet on our 10.5 month old baby boy. He's only had it for about 10 days but I believe in Cranial Technologies. They are a great company and the first one to get the helmet approved by the FDA. I have done a lot of research on this and have found that their patients see results quicker than others and they're very accommodating! Hunter (our son) is doing great so far. Good luck with your daughter! Hopefully it will be worth it! > > Hi everyone! > I wanted to get some feedback regarding my daughter. > She is 10 months old and has positional plagiocephaly on the right side of her face (head) and a little flatness to the back of her head.
