Guest guest
Just want to let you know the IV solution of Tobramycin must have changed. My son is using it for inhalation. Sabex, in Quebec, now makes a version that is preservative-free ... it was two out of the three preservatives that were thought to be the culprits to cause bronchospasm for some people when the IV solution was inhaled. When my son first started using it, he noticed it didn't smell great but he says he can't even notice the smell now. I am not very aware of it when I am near him doing the nebs (then again, I am usually stuffed up with allergies). The glass vials now have a rubber-in-metal top. The pharmacist told us we would need to use a tool to pry it off but we have found it easy to get off by just giving it a little twist first and then pushing the top up and sideways with the thumb to pop it off. I have not noticed any oily residue in the nebulizers. We clean them, the same as always, by running dish detergent and hot water through them, rinse well, then boil. Although, we are using the Tobramycin IV solution instead of Tobi, my son's cough has increased since starting it. We don't know if it is related to the tobramycin or if something else is going on. Has anyone else experienced cough increase from preservative-free Tobramycin (not Tobi)? Guest guest
YES, We make a version similar to this . We use the NEBCIN (preservative free tobramycin) as well. The water amount is also changed. It works VERY well & is literally a third of the cost. We call ours TOBRASOL..... It is in a syringe, with cap(easy removal). They are sent in a zip lock bag. Very easy to fit in refri as well......Folks have been using it inhaled for years....at least 20 I know of. ....Works GREAT............. Best wishes to you . LOVE Y & HUGS, grandmoMBEV Re: Advice/ help please- tobramycin Just want to let you know the IV solution of Tobramycin must have changed. My son is using it for inhalation.
