Guest guest
Sue Pettit, thank you so very much for the update on ; my cousin had Type II and if I could not wake her, I just did her blood sugar--knowing full well that not only was she hesitant about her own, but certainly could never have rescued ME--talk about denial. I use Freestyle when they have me on Insulin; let us hope that she takes responsibility for all this--that IS the key! And love and restful thoughts YOUR direction, Sue, n Rojas latest info Well, had her first dose of insulin today. It was by injection and is supposed to be the long acting type. I don't know much about it yet, the nurse is coming to educate us more tomorrow. She did fine with it though. She did scare me this morning (actually at noon) when I tried to wake her up and couldn't. I had to get the nurse to come wake her up. She said she was probably just worn out. I'm not so sure. She is doing fine now, but we will see how she does tomorrow. Other than that, today was a pretty good day for us. We got the Freestyle Flash monitor, which is only about 4 inches long. It is really tiny. We had to check her blood sugar with it and the nurse checked it with their monitor. We got 122 and she got 119. They said as long as it was within 5 it was okay. The doctor told us today that we would be here probably through next week and might go home the next. UMMMMM, I'm tired of being here. And you know is. We are going to have some apart time tomorrow. GRANDMA BEV- I hope you don't mind, but I gave your name and phone number to the nurse, Speaks, who is the Certified Diabetes Instructor who came to see us. She said they were trying to gather information about CFRD to put together a booklet. I told her you had already sent me a pamplet and she asked if she could get a copy because they were having trouble finding information on CFRD and they had 4 diagnosis of CFRD TODAY!!! Seems there is this big push to get CFers diagnosed with diabetes early to prevent long term problems and to help with weight gain. Anyway, she should be contacting you tomorrow. Her information is: Speaks, RN, CDE Children's Hospital 1600 7th Ave. S Birmingham, AL 35233 The phone number on her card is: I hope you don't mind that I gave her your information, I knew if anyone could get information together for her, you could. She was real excited about it. She said they were getting ready for the rush of patients being sent to them. Also, if anyone else on the site would like to send her information, please feel free to do so. She is open to any and all suggestions. They are new at CFRD, sort of. They haven't had this many CFers diagnosed with CFRD and are trying to figure out the best way to meet the needs of the patients. SHEILA: will be sending you an e-mail DENITA: Please don't forget to take to the ACT testing Saturday. If you don't mind, call him Friday and let him know what time you will be there to pick him up. You may have to call him Saturday morning to wake him up. I will call him, but it usually takes me and Jimmy calling them on school days to get them up. I will keep you all updated as more happens. Thanks for being there for us. We need all the help we can get. Hope everyone is doing great. Guest guest
That is fine. I will be most happy to gather for her.I get calls all the time. I am the referral source in the nursing school text book that is used nationwide as one to call for CF information. They have the CFF & myself with my number there for them. . I am so glad they are starting to check for that too. Many folks will be in better health sooner. Bless you & give that a hug from GrandmomBEV LOVE & HUGS, GrandmoMBEV latest info Well, had her first dose of insulin today. It was by injection and is supposed to be the long acting type.
