Guest guest
Hi , Maybe you should try a different pharmacy because I know for a fact that they come in tablet form (as well as the capsule). Before Walgreens went all weird about dispensing my pain meds I received two different scripts of just oxycodone tablets. I now get the capsule form, basically because that is what my current pharmacy has on hand but if I wanted the tablets, I know that the pharmacist would make sure he ordered those for me. I use the Target pharmacy now and I have had absolutely no trouble getting the right meds dispensed at the right time - no hassles. As opposed to Walgreen's which has a very odd demeanor when it comes to dispensing pain meds for chronic pain people. I can look on my bottle at home to see what the pharmaceutical company is that makes the tablet form if you wish that information. Guest guest
Laurie, Maybe I will talk to one of the other pharmacists at my pharmacy. I really do like my pharmacy because they are always so kind and also very conveniently located. Also, when I first began taking pain medication on a regular basis (under the care of my pain mgmt doc), my hubby was concerned about me becoming 'addicted'. He talked to one of the pharmacists at our pharmacy (have no idea which one) and the pharmacist told him he had nothing to worry about because people taking pain med for 'real' pain very rarely become addicted. He explained the difference between addiction and clinical dependence. He told my husband that if the time came that I no longer needed daily pain meds, I would have to taper them vs just stopping cold turkey but that he could rest assured that the pain doctor was very familar with the right way to taper the meds if the time came that I didn't need them. My husband didn't tell me about his concern or his talk with the pharmacist until some weeks later. I was so thankful that the pharmacist reassured my husband and took the time to explain to him that being 'addicted' to pain meds and being 'clinically dependent' were two totally different things. My husband was quite a hippie in his younger years and even lost a couple of friends to pain med overdoses so I understand his concern for me. He doesn't doubt my pain is real but he just needed to know that I wasn't going to turn into the kind of person he saw some of his friends turn into who truly did become addicted to pain meds and/or valium. So, because my pharmacy has been so good to me - I really am hesitant to change pharmacies. Also, part of the agreement that I signed with my pain doc is that I am to get my pain med prescriptions filled at only one pharmacy. So, before I go elsewhere, I will talk to another one of the pharmacists (they have about 5) and tell them that oxycodone ABSOLUTELY does come in pill form and ask them to order it for me prior to time for my next prescription (Dec 31st). Thanks for the info.
Guest guest
karen, I just thought about this, but the oxycodone I take is oxycodone HCL or Roxycodone and this may be why the doctor said it didn't come in 5mg tablets because you said you asked for Oxycodone IR. When I did a search of oxycodone IR on Rxlist, it couldn't find anything. I hope this helps when you talk with the pharmacist. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
, I too signed that type of agreement about the one Pharmacy. But my regular pharmacist didn't carry the Actiq and weren't allowed to for some reason, so I called my PM clinic, and they allowed me to use both, as my regular pharmacy was closer to get to. catherine
Guest guest
, thanks for the info. If my regular pharmacy has not gotten the oxycodone 5 mg in tablets when I need to fill my prescription, I will ask my pain doc for permission to use another pharmacy. They have always been very kind so I don't think it would be a problem. I am just hoping that my pharmacy will come through because I have an 11+ years relationship with them. They have til Dec 31st to get the oxycodone in tablet form, so hopefully it won't be a problem. W
