Well, had her first dose of insulin today. It was by injection and is

supposed to be the long acting type. I don't know much about it yet, the nurse

is coming to educate us more tomorrow. She did fine with it though. She did

scare me this morning (actually at noon) when I tried to wake her up and

couldn't. I had to get the nurse to come wake her up. She said she was

probably just worn out. I'm not so sure. She is doing fine now, but we will

see how she does tomorrow.

Other than that, today was a pretty good day for us. We got the Freestyle Flash

monitor, which is only about 4 inches long. It is really tiny. We had to check

her blood sugar with it and the nurse checked it with their monitor. We got 122

and she got 119. They said as long as it was within 5 it was okay.

The doctor told us today that we would be here probably through next week and

might go home the next. UMMMMM, I'm tired of being here. And you know

is. We are going to have some apart time tomorrow.

GRANDMA BEV- I hope you don't mind, but I gave your name and phone number to the

nurse, Speaks, who is the Certified Diabetes Instructor who came to see

us. She said they were trying to gather information about CFRD to put together

a booklet. I told her you had already sent me a pamplet and she asked if she

could get a copy because they were having trouble finding information on CFRD

and they had 4 diagnosis of CFRD TODAY!!! Seems there is this big push to get

CFers diagnosed with diabetes early to prevent long term problems and to help

with weight gain. Anyway, she should be contacting you tomorrow. Her

I hope you don't mind that I gave her your information, I knew if anyone could

get information together for her, you could. She was real excited about it. She

said they were getting ready for the rush of patients being sent to them.

Also, if anyone else on the site would like to send her information, please feel

free to do so. She is open to any and all suggestions. They are new at CFRD,

sort of. They haven't had this many CFers diagnosed with CFRD and are trying to

figure out the best way to meet the needs of the patients.

don't mind, call him Friday and let him know what time you will be there to pick

him up. You may have to call him Saturday morning to wake him up. I will call

him, but it usually takes me and Jimmy calling them on school days to get them

up.
