" I wanted to share that I had a Distal Pancreatectomy at IU (Indiana University Indianapolis) performed by surgeon, , MD. Unfortunately, my disease was very advanced when I was diagnosed, I had damage throughout the entire pancreas. For some reason I was asymptomatic for years prior. Actually, Dr. said this disease had a good ten year start them. I have been followed by IU Pancreatologists since the time I was diagnosed. I highly recommend their team of pancreatic specialists, as well as any referrals they make. Bedside manner is very important to any recovery process and Dr. is one of the most personable physicians I have met, and a surgeon at that. Usually, the surgeon is not as equipped with interpersonal relationship skills because of the limited interaction they usually have with the patient. Both Dr. Lehman and Dr. have been supporters and lecturers at the PAI Symposium. The fact that they are willing to give so freely of their time and knowledge to empower persons whose lives are challenged with pancreatitis has been appreciated.
