Guest guest
Steve, read my post to Heidi about my trip to Mayo. I didn't think to tell you that the Mayo path felt my liver damage is from all the attacks of acute panc and is not autoimmune liver disease as I was originally told and then had confirmed by a hepatologist at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. so, your thoughts that CP is related to the liver and spleen problems are absolutely possible. Have you had a liver biopsy? I truly think the first two docs were right and I have autoimmune hepatitis because my liver responded VERY well to the meds for AIH - prednisone and imuran. As I've also shared before, I have a VERY strong genetic tendency to autoimmune diseases. Both my sister and I found that we got a gene from both our mother and our father that can lead to autoimmune diseases, even though neither our mother or father have any autoimmune diseases that we know of and they are both 68 years old. If you have damage to your liver, a liver biopsy is really important in my opinion. I was lucky enough to be asleep when I had my liver biopsy done because it was done just after an ERCP to remove a stent that was put in the end of my common bile duct. Some people in my AIH group say a liver biopsy is no big deal (as far as pain during the biopsy). Others say it is horrible! I'd definitely want something to relax me during the liver biopsy if I had to be awake. So far, my spleen seems fine, but it is very common to have problems with your spleen when your liver doesn't work well. Take care and let us know what's going on.
