Cheeky: British expression that is similar to " brazen, " " impudent. " It's

probably closer to the American expression " wise guy " or even " brat. "

Norman Moss, who wrote " Men Who Play God: The Story of the Hydrogen

Bomb " also wrote a little book in 1984 (appropriate year, eh wot?)

entitled " British/American Language Dictionary. " (Passport

Books.probably out of print). For example, if you wear a " bonnet " and

put your foot in the " boot, " you are wearing the " hood " of a car (silly

at Easter time), and putting your foot in what Americans call the

" trunk! " Hal
