Guest guest
I was thinking about you a lot with your question to see Dr. L or not. Had you seen him before? I think seeing him would put your mind at ease. He will probably want an ERCP but I dont believe he is the kind of physician that would demand it. You dont say how long it has been since you have had your panc evaluated. However, you make it perfectly clear that your life is not the way you would have wanted it to be. I'm not sure, but I think Dr. L may be receptive to phone call or maybe an email to ask questions like the ones in your post. How did I come to this, well last october 26 I had a transduodenal sphincteroplasty it was ruled a success as the pancreas can drain. However they found that the head and some were completely fibrotic. The doc said it looked like a walnut. Needless to say the sphinteroplasty didn't do much; it a great procedurel but I needed a whipple. Anyway I went back to work on Jan 2, 2004 and lasted about 4 weeks until I fell to the floor in agony and rushed to the ER. I am a RN on duty at MUSC. They totured me for a week, said that the pancreas had deteroiorated rapidly and now I had clubbing and stenosis and dilatation throughout. (per mrcp and ercp). They put in a peg and told me I needed a total pancreatomy and they recommended Cincy then for the autoICT. I went out there in march, the doc said no, so with my panc getting sicker and I refused a whipple my doc did a Beger procedure last May. I tried again to go back to work in July, but only lasted 3 weeks. I have been progessivly getting worse and worse. Since I left work my doc here has been talking to the doc in Cincy and I flew out there again and he agreed to do it. Well thats my nutshell, Laurie. Ask me anything! But I do think you should be evaluated by somebody you trust, you dont hve to live like this. How far are you from MUSC, they have a great pancreatic group too, one of the best in the country. Dr. L is one of the best in the country as well. I know its a hard decision to make. But it cant hurt to call the mans office and see what they say. Let me know what you choose to do. Warmly, Chrissy
