Kim,

You wrote, " My doc has mentioned me possibly going on disability because of

my inability to work and I was wondering if any of you are currently on

disability and how hard is it to begin? "

Pancreatitis is, in deed, a ravaging disease. It rips at every aspect of our

livelihood, our health, our ability to provide for ourselves and our family.

I was instructed to apply for disability shortly after being diagnosed, even

though I was possibly going to work again. I never was able to return to

work, and was glad the process of applying for disability had been started.

It is a long and trying process, however. I recommend hiring a good attorney

who has experience with pancreatitis, not someone seen on TV that does

workman's comp. Most persons, even disability attorneys are not familiar with

how

disabling this disease is. For many, if the disability is not visible, then

we can't be that bad off. And, that, we all know, is not true.

There is information on the disability process both
