Guest guest
Hi all, I just wanted to say thanks for all of the responses about pseudomonas. I was just curious to see how many people were left untreated upon first culture. I have five year old identical twins with CF. Jonah cultured pseudomonas two times, but has not cultured it in over a year. This was with no treatment. He has never been " sick " from it until possibly now. We are not sure. He went for his clinic visit on the 9th and only grew staph. Over the weekend, he has had a productive cough, so I took him back yesterday and they did another culture. We should know more by the end of the week, but for now, he is on augmentin. Worry is really beginning to set in. My other son, , was sick back in July when he cultured pseudomonas for the first time. He had been sick with a virus for a week, but just could not get better. He was hospitalized for 13 days and went home with his PICC line in for me to do his meds at home. That was scary, but the scariest part was him being put to sleep for the PICC.
