Bar codes and hospital administrated medications

I am reeling from this one! First, I wake up this morning and turn on

the news to find that the feds are thinking of reducing Social Security

payments (all) and Medicare (further!!!!) and delaying the age of legal

retirement and putting greater restrictions on the definition of disability---

and then the next comment was about a new bright idea of some com

puter-crazed government genius to put bar codes on all hospital meds

" to make sure that the patient gets the accurate dose! "

Thus, I suppose, eliminating more pharmacy aide positions. No wonder

all my physicians are depressed! and all the nurses are depressed, all

the aides are depressed, etc.

This all reminds me of a certain bank commercial where a bar code is

attached to the forehead of the customer, who then promptly changes

banks to Brand W--but we do not have a chance to change; these are NOT

entitlement programs; these are programs paid for by paying taxes on

previously earned income! We are not even talking " welfare here! "

Hey, every day gets more and more exciting! And thrilling! Stay tuned

for further details!

n, the cf salty old fool who was dumb enough to even watch the news

this morning! I am still busy praying that my kid in the military will get to

retire within eight months before being sent to heaven-knows-where!

Love to all coping with cystic fibrosis!

ps what this may mean for those with Medicare and Medicaid is that the

hospital will just say " take your own " and shove the cost from Medicare

to Medicaid--even while you are in the hospital--which is what happened

to me during my last and recent hospitalisation--luckily, I had updated new

refills and brought the whole haul with me!
