Guest guest
I am so sorry that I did not respond earlier. Sometimes it is very difficult to sit at my desk for any length of time. I dont know why sitting is so much more painful, guess it must be all the rolls of fat squishing together..lol Calcium channel blockers are a smooth muscle relaxant. It dilates the coranary arteries, the artioles and the smooth muscles of the vein wall. The sphincter of oddi is comprised of smooth muscle as well and it is theorized that it will inhibit spasm of the sphincter by relaxing the smooth muscle. It does work well for those spasms but it takes a little while of taking it before you would see an therapuetic effects. Did your doc put you on a low dose of cardizem? Its really sad how hard we have to fight in order to receive the treatment we deserve. Its been a few years since I have done floor nursing, but in my practice pain is whatever the patient says it is and that is not to be disputed. I still can not understand why the health care community has so much difficulty getting this through their thick heads. Slowly but surely it is sinking in. I hope your having a good day and dont get took soaked by Jeanne when she tramples through Alabama. Its unbelievable what has been hapening in florida. But by the grace of God go I. Take care and again I sorry it took so long to get back to you. Oh and also, you still can have an endoscopic block placed because the scope only enters your stomach it does not pass the duodenum so the roux-en-y procedure used in your bypass should not be an issue. Well at least that is what we do at MUSC. Other institutions have different policies. After my last surgery I had a roux-en-y done as well, close to one at any rate, and I cant have any more ercp (boo hoo right,,LOL) but I could have a endoscopic block if I wanted. Warmly, Chrissy
