Guest guest
le, Nuts were not mentioned in the original SCD as written by Dr. Haas. Nuts can be difficult to digest at first and some people have definite allergies to both tree nuts and peanuts, which are actually a legume. There are other acceptable sources for desserts and treats on SCD that are nut free. Nut butter is the most easily tolerated form of nuts, followed by ground nuts (nut flour) while whole nuts or nut pieces are advanced foods and more difficult to digest. Some children are able to tolerate nuts after doing SCD for several months. I think that avoiding nuts in the early months of the diet might bring quicker results with SCD for many of our kids.
