Guest guest
I keep forgetting things but the things I am going to list are things that have " kicked " off my pancreas and caused me unmeasurable pain, suffering and hospitalizations. If a doctor says that these things don't cause a flair in a sensitive pancreas he is nuts! 1. " mycin " drugs in my cause Zithromax (the " Z-pak " ), Dynabec which I think is dirithromycin. I almost died from both of those before I looked it up and informed the docs! 2. Cigarette smoke costed me about two months in the hospital. That is just my pancreas. 3. STRESS! If the stress piles, even if you don't think you are stressed, it can show in your pancreas. Two years ago in August 02 we found out my brother in law had cancer, the same week I lost a good friend suddenly, my mom had a bleeding ulcer the next week and by the next week I was in the hospital! I stayed out until June of this year. I was admitted the first time June 3, my brother in law was dying and died while I was in the hospital. I did not get to his funeral which was 700 miles away but checked out like and idiot and made my hubby go. As it was, he was there when I got sick adn drove all night to get back here. A month later I was in with the worst attack of my life with lungs full of fluid, an abdomen full of fluid and hemorrhagic gastritis which caused my hemoglobin to drop 5 points overnight and warnings by the docs that they might not be able to take care of this. They don't know it all and after 13 days I went home. Two more 6 day stays after that and I went to ton making it 5 in 4 months. STRESS, STRESS, STRESS, STRESS! 4. Alcohol. I have never drank, but there is alcohol in so many things that can hurt you. This sounds wacky but it is the Gods truth. I had a tooth ache a couple years ago, on a weekend, of course and no meds to treat it with. So I decided to treat it with vanilla out of the bottle, you know alcohol in the vanilla to calm the pain. Within 10 minuts I was in the floor with an S.O.D. spasm. That goes for drugs like Nyquil, mouthwashes that contain alcohol and all the rest. 5. SOD spasms. Before they had diagnosed the S.O.D. spams, they came up with this big idea if I would loose weight the " irritable bowel syndrome " would go away. I went on a diet, lost 55 pounds and had an S.O.D. spasm from hell one night, " irritable bowel you know " and they took me out in an ambulance. I figured I had an aneurysm or something that blew and I was goner. By the time I got to the hospital the pain was gone as usual. So much for losing weight to cure anything! The neighbor across the street was in my yard as the ambulance was taking me out and told my son that the " damn diet I was on was killing me " ! I laugh about it now but my son told him to take it back across the street and a few other things I am sure! There is no rhyme or reason to S.O.D. or the things that trigger a pancreas attack. It is learned only by experience. The docs know what is in the textbooks, but a good doc will ask what you think. Dr. Cotton's first words every time I go are what do you think and I tell him and I havent been wrong yet! We all know how our bodies react to things and a good doc knows that. I will get off my band wagon for now! Kaye.........NC
