Guest guest
I bought a package of plain sun dried tomatoes. They were so good, like big red raisins! By the end of the day I had eaten 20 sun dried tomato pieces. I was very gassy. Feeling a little better the next day I went to a party. I ate nothing at the party but when I got home I had an intense meat craving so I ate a big steak. . I should have cut it in half or even thirds. I now have gas, the big D and I have abdominal swelling. My stomach hurts and I couldn't stay after class today and ask questions because of all the gas. I am sad. I just had a homemade yogurt and 20 almonds. I am planning a light menu for the rest of the day. Should I eat salad for lunch or should I stick to cooked vegetables for the next few days and forget the raw foods? What does a person do on SCD when they make themselves sick? I usually drink lots of water, rest and eat light. Any thoughts?
Guest guest
I think you may want to go back to eating everything peeled and deseeded and cooked again for a little while or even do 1 day of the intro. Red meat can be hard on the stomach if not chewed properly especially when the gut was already upset by the tomatoes. Exactly what you said.....eat light, get some rest, drink lots. Sun dried tomatos like dried fruit (tomatoes actually are a fruit) are highly concentrated and should be soaked and in any case sound like an advanced food. Whole nuts are also only for those who are well along on SCD. You didn't say how long you have been on the diet and if you followed the " intro " for a a few days. SCD is intended to be balanced and moderate so my suggestion is to read the book and websites carefully and go back to the intro diet, next adding easy ti digest foods gradually and in small amounts. Activated charcoal may relieve yiur distress. Get well soon! Carol F. SCD 7 years

I did the intro. for two days in the beginning. I am definetely off the crazy tomatoes. I learned a lot from you. No more whole nuts even if they are a easy to pack snack.
