Guest guest
Yes, I'm extremely interested in your findings. Our son now almost 6 has been extremely healthy, and developed wonderfully, with the exception of a mild case of sensory integration issues with some of the symptoms you describe. He has a horrible time self-soothing and regulating! He has vestibular issues. He saw an OT for over a year, and we are just recently replacing that with some other activities, such as a rock climbing gym. This year we realized our son was born with torticollis and he has very mild plagio. It may be from me being petite, since both my babies suffered from tort/plagio. I think it was mild when he was an infant. His plagio is very classic, with a little forehead and eye asymmetry. His sensory integration issues have always been a mystery to me, but now I've wondered about the connection to the torticollis and plagio. Please let me know what you find, and keep me updated. I am happy to answer more questions. -Kathy muniraadenwalla wrote:  Hi everybody. I'm a Paediatric Occupational Therapist now working in London. I'm looking for information related to sensory processing difficulties for children with Plagiocephaly and/ or torticollis for a presentation I'm about to give. Many of the kids I treat with Plagiocephaly and / or Torticollis oftentimes also have sensory processing difficulties. E.g. vestibular / balance, difficulty self-soothing, avoid moving / fearful or sensitive to movement, poor bilateral integration (use of both sides of the body) and difficulty with new motor tasks ( motor planning). Although I realize that due to my work I tend to see children moreso with significant difficulties. I was wondering if any of your children have sensory processing difficulties? And if so, would you mind sharing with me generally what they have, what you do for it, and if you receive any Occupational Therapy services? I would very much appreciate your time. I'm hoping this information will be helpful for other medical professionals and parents. Feel free to email me privately at muniraadenwalla@... or to post back on this board. Guest guest
My son has plagio and definitely more difficulty self soothing than his twin or my older 2 children did. He has muscles that almost always seem tense like they are hypersensitive to touch. Planning on talking about it with our pediatrician at next visit. Not doing anything different for him currently.
