Guest guest
Dear List Members, I want to explain further why the links to some ready made foods were removed on the new website. Elaine warned us that methods and ingredients in ready made foods are subject to change without notification so I contacted the companies that were on our site for the past several years and here is what I discovered. Hunter's Honey Farm- They include all sorts of bee parts and pollen in their honey and strain but do not filter it. Their method is a family tradition that disdains filtering and unfiltered honey is not advised for SCD although raw honey is quite all right. Martha Ham- I could no longer even find it on her website shopping link. House of Hams: two out of their three advertised hams are sugar cured. They offer a Country Ham and you may wish to contact them to check if it still excludes sugar. Applegate Farms.. always a source of interest to list members seeking sugar free deli products. I could not determine what may or may not be legal there as Applegate has changed their ingredients several times from sugar free to including sugar and then some back again. It became too difficult to sort out all their changes and get documentation. Individuals will have to do this and we always advise getting a hand written letter attesting ingredients and remind you that use of such products is at your own risk. Digestive Wellness- They are still on the approved list with the two other bakeries but they sell a number of other prepared food products that should have been qualified only for those who are advanced or healed. We are optimistic that they will provide more details in the future but meanwhile cannot take their list apart ourselves item by item. We continue to list their nut flours and baked goods. All baked goods should be chosen according to your state of progress and there is a notation to that effect on the link. Real Milk- This is a Weston-Price site inviting support for raw milk and we are currently preparing comments on that. My own thoughts are for all of you is to continue to stress the importance of compliance over convenience. Carol F.
