Guest guest
Tracey-I have never had success in stopping finger chewing. My most recent posts referred to my 7 yr/asd son starting to chew and pick at his fingers shortly after introducing vitamins. We are on our 74th day scd. I guess he started the finger biting between 3-4 years of age and it went on until around age 5. It was awful and nothing we tried would stop it. We were living in Alaska at the time, so he wore his mittens outdoors for months at a time and we spent a lot of time indoors playing astronaut for which I'd make him wear his mittens and call them " space gloves " but as soon as the gloves were off, the chewing would start up. I still can't figure out why it stopped when it did about 1.5 yrs. ago. I just panicked a little when he started it again this past week, but he didn't do it yesterday or today. I wish I could be of more help to you. I have three children (both boys are asd) and they are all on scd. I haven't introduced any new food or supplement lately because we knew we wanted to start their new vitamins without dealing with any adverse reactions to new foods, so perhaps there is a link between the vitamins (which have extra B6 and magnesium) and the recent return of finger biting and other behaviors. I wish you and your precious child well-
