Guest guest
You know..doctors could learn so much if they were to become members and visit this site. They would learn that not everybody is a textbook case, and they would realize they have a lot to learn with regards to pancreatitis and how they treat patients emotionally with Pancreatitis. The wealth of information we all give to each other here is enough to warrant that it be mandatory that doctors study from this site during their training. But alas, I know that wouldn't happen, simply because we ourselves are not md's and therefore, to some have no idea what could be causing our problems. I remember when my Pancreatitis first started. The doctor couldn't work out what the problem was. I talked with my mother and she said... " well cath, I've suffered from pancreatitis quite a few times because of a polyp blocking my pancreatic duct. Tell your doctor to check that out because it could be dangerous to you if it is this " ... I told the doctor, and he said no, highly unlikely that it would be this, and besides it is probably just your gallbladder. By the time I was directed to a GI and he stopped cancelling my appointments due to family emergencies, he did an ERCP..and sure enough, there was a polyp, blocking my pancreatic ducts and it had turned to pre cancerous. I have had to convince my oncologist that I can recognize when one of my tumours starts growing now. It gives a specific pain, and when I told him about 3 more sites where I am experiencing the pain now, he admitted to me that after having to convince him and being right about it every time, he now acknowledges that where I say there is pain, there will be a tumour become visible soon. My acupuncturist said it is a good thing when someone can be so intune with their bodies as to know what and where the problem is. It is easier said than done to say...we know what is wrong with our bodies and to make the doctors listen, but I know how hard it can be to have a doctor believe you that you are right.
