Guest guest
, I have serious problems with extreme edema, so my doctors have put me on diuretics, despite the possible effect it could have on my pancreas. I take Lasiz (evidentlly, hydroclorothyazide is worse for people with CP, according to my doctor). In my case it's a question of which is worse. Evidently, the edema won on that one. So far I have not noticed any increase of pancreas pain that I can link to the diuretic and I've been taking diuretics for over a year. The problem with edema is that if it is bad enough, it can seriously affect the heart and since I already have heart problems, I can't afford to have that happen. Even sitting with my feet elevated doesn't help anymore. I would definitely discuss this with your doctor if you haven't already since Heidi also recommended you speak with your doctor (i'm afraid I'm behind on my posts since I was offline visiting my grandmother all last week). If your doctor does think that you need to be on a diuretic despite the possible problems of it affecting your pancreas, I do have a few tips for you. First, if you are on a diuretic, you should also be taking some potassium as diuretics lower your potassium. The strength of the potassium supplement should be decided by your doctor. Also, you show lie down for 15 minutes on your right side after taking the medication. This helps draw the fluid from your extremities towards your kidneys, making it easier on your kidneys to work. Hope this is of some help for you. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional.
