Guest guest
http://www.diabetes.org/nutrition-and-recipes/nutrition/sweeteners.jsp This site does currently (I was looking at last year's saved site page) allow Splenda, which is sucralose and maltodextrin. Speaking only for myself, I can only say that my endocrinologist and my cf doctor and my internist all discourage the use of this as well as or sorbitol, manitol, malilil, etc. So, I sit corrected on this issue and on a post I sent earlier, I think to crataegus . However, what the American Dia betes Association site does NOT consider at all, is CFRD, or Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes. An individual plan must be worked out for each person with cystic fibrosis. That said, however, there is no law that says that if a person with cystic fibrosis separately inherits Types I or II Diabetes, that the situation may not be very different. We are each unique and no one " rule " applies to all. For me, myself, I cannot metabalise the alcohol sugars commonly used in " no sugar " ice cream, and we will not even discuss what hap pens to me alone on high fructose corn syrup, found virtually everywhere-- not to be confused with fructose as found in fruits and vegetables, along with their fiber content. I am a known " food prude, " who does not use artificial sweeteners save for the herb, Stevia, which has NO affect on my blood sugars and is used in minute quantities; the powder has no added small molecule sugars. This said, I recommend the site of Norma Kennedy Plourde of Canada as covering the subject very well. And, of course, each of us should follow our physician's advice! I do try! Honest! Thank you friends for your forebearance! Love to all at all cystic fibrosis lists, n Rojas Rojas5915@...
