I would also imagine that this can vary GREATLY from person to person...such is just a facet of the mystery & complexity of diabetes.< , If my memory serves me right, (and if it doesn't, we can blame those darned meds again), most of that information was gleaned by reading " Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution " , a book by a doctor who's had type I diabetes over 55 years, and has a very interesting approach to living with diabetes. I learned a lot of very useful information from his book, and some that is too far out or rigid for me, especially in regard to diet, but it's an informative read. > Absorption rates of injection sites may also vary greatly from one person to another. People on the slim side absorb faster and overweight people slower...but that's common knowledge < Probably so. This " should " apply to digestion, too, but doesn't work that way with me. I'm on the slender side, but still don't absorb protein until at least three hours after I eat, and because of this, I have to dose a second time each night to catch the protein. That second after dinner injection is done about 3 hours after my first pre-dinner injection. If I don't do that, I'll be in the 200's while I sleep....when I sleep, that is! > Heidi I'm assuming that you do your finger sticks on the side of the fingertip and not into the " pad " ? And I hope you're rotating injection sites, as I just recently discovered that I've been shooting into my abdomen almost exclusively and I'm not absorbing as much insulin as I used to.< Of course, I use both sides of the thumbs, rotating each time, and sometimes my knuckles. Same goes for the injection sites, too! No infections, so far. The worse that's happened to me is the little black and blue brusing spots I sometimes get on my tummy.
