Guest guest
Yes, this is what it was for us as well. We were measured 2 weeks before they figured he wouldn't have any room left in it because at that point we could tell he would benefit further from another band. This way they had the time to work on insurance approval and then we could get the DSI and have time for it to be made to avoid too long of a gap without the band. I felt the same way, I really wanted them to measure every time. Jen Measuring their head? My daughter has been wearing her DOC Band for 2 weeks now. I was excited to go to her first appointment to find out how much her head had moved. Then when we were there the PT told me that they will only measure her head at the first appointment and at the last appointment. I was really bummed because I wanted to know how much of an improvement she made so far. If your child has a DOC Band, could you please tell me if this is how they do it at your clinic? Guest guest
My clinician (Cranial Tech in CT) measured with calipers and a tape measure, then DSI (which produces a 3-D digital image of the entire head) at the first and last appointment. In between, the need for adjustments is determined by comparing a mold of the original head shape to the baby's head to note any changes, and a tape measure is used to measure if the head has grown at all. My clinician used the tape measure number to help her determine how much to shave out of the helmet. Once, my son had a big growth spurt, so she made a larger adjustment at that appointment. Of course, I would have loved if they used the calipers each time to measure his CVA so I would know how much it had improved, but I didn't feel like it was necessary to do a proper adjustment to the helmet. It just would have been nice to know. Hope that helps! > > > Yes, this is what it was for us as well. Guest guest
I know this sounds crazy but she didnt mention the new measurement and I didnt ask. I guess I just want there to be a big difference and fear that it wont be so quick! Although its been a week and I see a difference in the shape. He is used to it now. His poor head though is soooo dry and has a touch of cradle cap. The band I dont mind so much its doing the stretches thats hard b/c he screams and they want me to do it 5x daily. So far I am doing it twice. From: <kellyms20@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Fri, August 13, 2010 8:54:51 AMSubject: Re: Measuring their head? Paisley was the same...17 mm.
