Any suggestions for decorations in NOVA?

I hear that painting can come off after a while. Is it better then to just put

stickers? How about spray paint? If you do any painting, wouldn't the kid have

to be without the helmet then for a while and therefore slow down the process?

Thanks for any help in advance!

,I used stickers that were made out of the plastic-type material(no paper types) and they held up very well. Have fun decorating!-AmyFrom: R <rrican1@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thu, August 12, 2010 10:38:58 AMSubject: Suggestions for DOCband decorations in

i left my babies band just how it was, WHITE!! it still looks as new and clean as it did on the first day he got it. i dont see why you would want you baby to be out of the band a second more then they have to, in order to get the maximum change possible. it just costs so much money already..its hard to justify taking them out of it and then spending more time money and energy decorating..jmoFrom: Amy McGinnis

To each his own.

Getting my babies bands decorated gave me something to focus my energy on rather than go into worry mode about their heads. I did my research and my parent part in regards to their heads getting treatment, but then i left that worry up to Cranial Tech and my only duty other than making sure my babies wear their bands at all times, other than their 1 hour break period, was making it cute. Yeah, it is for me. The twins and their siblings like the decorated helmets too, and it helps me tell whose is whose.

I was lucky enough to find a company to decorate the bands with wraps and it didn't cost me a penny. I told them what I wanted, they did it, emailed a picture, I said looks great and we went to their shop the other day and they did it. They didn't have their bands off other than the short amount of time it took for them to place the wraps. Still gave me enough time to do the cleaning that needed to be done and be within the 1 hour window.

I was worried about painting it or doing anything short of placing the few stickers on it that I did while waiting to get the wrap, out of fear I would do something and have to look at whatever mess I made of the band for the next few months.

Truth is, the band is there to serve it's purpose and as long as whatever parents choose to do, or not do, in terms of decorating is truly up to them. The shorter the time off their head the better, but there is nothing wrong with doing what you want in phases and utilizing the 1 hour window each day. Their skin needs that 1 hour break.

Hi

I went online and searched for " cute dinosaurs " on Google images. Once I found

a handful that I liked, I went to the local art center and found BLANK printable

decal paper. I went with this instead of painting because I tend to get tired of

things, and this will allow me to change the design easily. They come right off

with nail polish remover (I tested it).

Once I printed them it was pretty easy, but time consuming. Every second was

worth it! His Lucas-a-saurus DOC band is adorable. I finished by putting two

coats of mod podge over it to keep them in place. I plan to post the entire

process on my blog (justlikesuperheroes.com) later this week. Let me know if

you want me to email you the details.

:-)

Good luck!

I opted to have Camille's helmet airbrushed. I have attached a few pictures. I am not sure if this is allowed or not, but if not I will have to post pictures of it as it turned out awsome. I simply searched my local area for an airbrush artist in my area, contacted him and told him what I was looking for and it was done.......all I told him was I wanted it to be prtty and girlie, this is what he did and it looks incredible.

The paint peels right off so can be changed too, joeys helmet was

painted 3 times, 2 decoupage and countless stickers. You can see his

different ones at joeysmanicmelon.blogspot.com

The helmet is sealed with a really shiny gloss and he assured me it will look the same in the future.

She is wearing a Danmar helmet. There is no CT in Michigan so I really did not have a choice. She has been in it since August 2nd and has had 2 adjustments. I can see a huge difference already. I am not unhappy with the decision.

Camille's band looks great. Let us know how the paint wears over time. She has a danmar helmet right? Are you seeing good progress? I've heard mixed reviews, but hoping you'll have a great experience to share with us.-christinesydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > > > Any suggestions for decorations in NOVA? > > > > I hear that painting can come off after a while. There are lots of options that allow you to change accessories according to what

your baby is wearing that day on www.StylinBabyHelmets.com. Check it out!

For stickers try www.stickergiant.com, www.blingyourband.com, or your favorite

sports team's online store. Local craft stores usually have some in the

scrapbooking area, but they might not be the right size. FYI, a lot of people

have found that the vinyl stickers work better. I tried paper once, and they did

peel more quickly. Cover the stickers with Mod Podge (craft store or Wal-Mart)

so they don't peel off too easily. The Mod Podge will peel right off when you

want it to with minimal effort. Painting is more work. I tried it for one design

and it was really cute, but I did have to have the helmet off longer. Most

people seem to prefer acrylic and say it peels off fairly easily. You can coat

the whole paint job in Mod Podge to make it last a little longer. It will peel

around the edges though and need touch-ups. Have fun!
