Guest guest
My appointment with my new GI went well. He seems very knowledgable. He wants to get down to what's causing the pancreatitis. He ordered several blood tests, like triglycerides & cholesterol levels. He said that if they are high they can cause pancreatitis. Also he wants to do a genotyping where they look at my genes to see if I'm carrying a cystic fibrosis gene. He said that I may never have cystic fibrosis but if I'm a carrier that could also contribute to pancreatitis. I didn't know all that! They also have to do a stool check....urg! He wants to see if there's significant fat in the stool which could be that my pancreas is not working well. Meanwhile, he gave me the Pancrealipase medication so that my pancreas doesn't have to work so hard. I see him again in a month. We'll see what he tells me. Crystal- I'm sorry I took a break from the board. I was so busy towards the end of last year....I had knee surgery in Nov. Then in Dec. my DH and I celebrated our 5th anniversary in Las Vegas. And last month I started classes.....so very busy. I hope to keep in touch with everyone here. The group is great!
