Guest guest
I agree with , I am by no means an expert but would definitely have him evaluated. I see the increased width and also head height. He looks brachy from the side but the top view appear asymetrical with then is definite plagio. Picture 2 concerned me because he looks like he has an indent in the right side. I think you are right to want to at least persue it a step further. Your gut says something is of concern or you wouldn't have reached out to the group. I remember clearly the day I realized my little boys head shape just wan't right and luckily found this group that same day. I was able to voice my concerns and soon realized I wasn't the only one going through this. Good luck! Jen Re: Please look at our baby's pictures and comment. Does he have plagio? What kind? I think you are right. Did either of the doctors measure your son's head? He seems to have some asymmetry (plagio). He also seems to have brachicephaly - flat in back with extra width. The plagio looks the worst in pic5. Where do you live? Could you get a consultation from Cranial Tech (doc band maker) or one of the starband providers? Sometimes that information can be passed along to your doctor to help convince them there is a problem. What kind of doctors did you see? I think you are being a great mom for not just accepting what the doctors are telling you. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > Hello everyone. > We posted pictures of our baby boy in the section "Photos". Guest guest
I can't stress to you how important time is with this issue. I noticed my son's plagio at 4 months, but waited until 6 1/2 months to get his helmet. I was hoping repositioning would round his head out, but it didn't. After he got the helmet, I realized we had missed his largest growth spurt. I wish we had gotten him the helmet at 4 months. So if your son is 5 1/2 months now, and it'll probably take a few weeks to get referrals, x-rays, scans, and waiting for the helmet. Please don't wait any longer. Like someone else had posted, you can go directly to the banding company and maybe get some measurements and their recommendation. With these in hand go back to the pediatrician and maybe he or she will decide to prescribe the helmet. And if he or she doesn't I would find one that would. Good luck! Maybe next time the doctor will know better now that he's been educated on the topic. I'm sorry I didn't realize when I replied before you are in Canada, so my advice wasn't very good. I just looked at your pictures though, and I bet they will say your son has a combination of brachycephaly and plagiocephaly. Make sure they also check him for torticollis. I can't tell from the pictures if he has it, but 80% of plagio babies do, so you should read up on it just in case. I think you'll feel much better when you get treatment started. Let us know how your appointment at the hospital goes. ~ > > > > Hello everyone. > > We posted pictures of our baby boy in the section " Photos " .
