Guest guest
le, I highly recommend The STARband in Columbia, MD or Cranial Tech in ndale, VA, NOT the kidcap. Our story is long and started back in 2008, but we did have experience with all three providers. Check out my daughter's blog at www.mymaysa.wordpress.com If you still have questions or want to find out more, email me and I'll be glad to answer to the best of my knowledge. I have appointmentsscheduled next week with Star Cranial Center in MD and InfiniteTechnologies in VA. Star is much closer to home and was recommended byour pediatrician. I also scheduled an appointment with Inifinite Techbecause their product seems different a traditional band and I wouldlike to explore all our options. My limited online research shows that the Starband has a proven trackrecord, but I haven't found much information about the KidCap. Doesanyone have experience with the KidCap? Any pros/cons to either center?Any information will be helpful. We're a day into this journey with ourfirst born and I already feel overwhelmed. Thanks!le
Guest guest
Hello le,My daughter actually just graduated from her Kidcap about 6 weeks ago and my family couldn't be happier with her treatment and the results. was 8 months when she began treatment and measured 13mm(scan)/14.5(calipers.) She wore the KidCap for 15 weeks and her final measurements were 2.47 mm. You can check out her photos under the name W. if you'd like to see her before and after pics. I did a lot of research before allowing Infinite Technologies to treat my daughter. Both 's neurosurgeon and her PT practice had good things to say about the orthotist, Joe Terpenning. I found him to be very responsive to our needs and he answered all of our questions without ever trying to rush us out the door. I also spoke with every parent that I encountered in the waiting room during our appointments and all were pleased with treatment and/or results. The Kidcap is a little different and Joe will be able to answer all the questions that you have about it. In my opinion, it is a good idea to have consultations with more than one provider. I'm sure StarBand in MD would do a good job as well. This provider being closer in proximity to your home is definitely a plus. Perhaps, someone who's baby actually underwent treatment there could provide some details? I hope this helps. Good luck and feel free to email me if I can help in any way.Good luck!-Amy From: le <griepd@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Tue, August 10, 2010 3:28:55 PMSubject: Starband vs. KidCap? Guest guest
I can second the recommendation for the STARband in Columbia. My daughter had great results for her age, no problems with the band, and the staff was excellent. You can see before and after pictures at this link. Feel free to ask me any specific questions that you would like to. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11835424@N06/page3/ , mom to , almost 3 years STARband grad May 2009 > > > From: le <griepd@...> > Subject: Starband vs. KidCap? > Plagiocephaly > Date: Tuesday, August 10, 2010, 3:28 PM > > > Â > > > > > Hi, > > My son's head is slightly flat on the left side and our pediatrician > recommended he be evaluated for plagiocephaly.
