The surgery is done at his clinic in the hospital, with local anesthesia and sedation, too. " I am so glad that you did identify the problem before serious complications developed. Wow, what an ordeal. As a diabetic I am at risk for many foot complications. I purchased a heavy duty flex and extendable mirror so I can do a foot check every night (or morning). For years I tried to do acrobatics to look at the bottom of my feet, between my toes, behind my heal, etc. After I developed a stage II pressure sore by my toes, I realized how serious the risk of losing a digit or even a foot is. This mirror is sold in most pharmacies by the diabetic supplies. I highly recommend it. I treated my pressure sore aggressively with duoderm dressing and it healed quite quickly. This was a concern, because when there is a high glucose level in the cells, it prevents healing. keeping my blood sugar levels within normal limits are very important. I also wear special diabetic socks and rotate my shoes. This is probably the least from your mind, but I recently went through five year disability review. The largest area of consideration was what procedures I had done in the last five years. Fortunately I had a list of every time I had and appointment, made a telephone call, pick up Rx and spoke to a pharmacists, went to the ER, had surgical procedures, went to the dentist, etc. This list was instrumental in getting me re-approved. Keep track of this. See, keeping a positive mind, you can see the good in everything. Keeping you in thought & prayer, Karyn E. , RN, Exec.
