Phenergen Withdrawal Symptoms???

I am just curious,

When I was hospitalized for close to 3 months, I was on Phenergen

for nausea regularly due to the pancreatitis and the nausea I was

having from the pain meds also. Then when it got really bad, they

would give me Benedryl inbetween the Phenergen shots to help me also.

After a month of being on these meds, everytime I had Phenergen, I

would get restless in my arms (especially my left arm where my PICC

line had infiltrated) and have to stretch all the time. I could

never sleep and the only relief I got was when it was time for my

next pain med shot.

Then I finally get to come home from hospital after almost 3 months

of this and spend 5 days without sleep, climbing the walls,

restlessness, nausea and pain..the usual withdrawal symptoms. I

thought it was the pain meds withdrawal...until

After this surgery, I was sick alot in the hospital, and the Zofran

didn't work, so had to use Phenergen. I was having that every 8-10

hours, and then took 2 phenergen tablets 12 hours apart the day I

came home. I then stopped the phenergen as my nausea started to

settle, and at the same time I stopped the pain meds...the

withdrawal started again, so I decided for once I would decrease

instead of stopping cold turkey. I took another pain med, but

nothing changed and after another day of having pain meds in my

system, still went through withdrawal symptoms.

I am now thinking that perhaps my body has developed an allergey to

the histamines or whatever causes the drowsiness in meds because the

same thing happens with Valium, Toredal and even the Night Tylenol.

It is horrible. Since not many other nausea meds have helped me, I

guess I will just put up with the vomiting, as I hate going through

this every few months or so.

Just wondered if I am the only one this has happened to....
