Guest guest
: Thanks for looking up the info....I don't think that it was the magnesium per se that caused my problem....I believe that the magnesium citrate as a laxative is/was too MUCH of a stimulant acting laxative and that is why I believe that it caused my entire panc and everything else to spin so wildly out of control. I just think it got everything that was bound up in there going TOO FORCEFULLY and therefore that was what caused me to have the panc attack. I will add here, just for other's edification, that when my husband called Dr. Lehman's office (he didn't talk to Dr. L himself but one of his associates)...but the associate said that my new gastro doc should NEVER HAVE TOLD ME TO TAKE magnesium citrate when in the midst of such problems....for exactly the reasons that I cited above. I.e., that it was too harsh and much too much of a stimulant laxative than something that would have say added more water to the intestines. Hence, the reason that I'm now going to take stool softeners EVERY DAY and start drinking prune juice as well as eating stewed prunes and/or baby food prunes if need be to never allow myself to get that bound up in the first place. Anyway, your mileage may vary and some may not have problems with magnesium citrate, however, Dr. L's associate DID say that and that is why I'm so disgusted with my new GI. He KNEW the distress I was already in and yet still advised me to take that as well as milk of magnesia (which I ALSO took I might add...all in the same night!!) YIkes....anyway, ...thanks for the info and don't take this as a slight against what you so kindly wrote to me for info purposes. I just know what happened to me and don't want it to EVER happen again...if Dr. Kevorkian had been at my bedside during a couple of days of that I would have let him have at it...let's just put it that way.....my God in heaven...never in my life have I been so sick. Do others get nauseated so severely? Nothing, and I mean nothing worked for it.....they even gave me 8mgs of Zofran (which is what they give chemo patients) and that didn't work....Well, off to bed now, but thanks again I appreciate the info. take care > > What is magnesium citrate? > • Magnesium is a naturally occurring mineral.
