Hi ,

I did a search on the internet, went to many sites, put in different

questions, and found nothing showing a problem with magnesium

citrate and pancreatitis. The major side effect on one website was

diarrhea, which is why most people are given it to take, to cleanse

out the colon when a procedure is needed to be performed.

I did find on www.ConsumerLab.com this which was interesting...

" " Magnesium is needed for proper metabolism and nervous system

functioning. While sufficient magnesium can be obtained easily from

the diet, modest magnesium deficiency may affect a small percentage

of the population, in whom it may modestly elevate blood pressure

and increase risk for osteoporosis. Conditions that may lead to

depletion of magnesium include alcohol abuse, diabetes, and diseases

of the digestive tract causing malabsorption or chronic diarrhea

(such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease and celiac sprue), as

well as use of the medication cisplatin or diuretices in the

thiazide or loop diuretic families. Severe magnesium deficiency

causes irritability, muscle weakness, and irregular heartbeat, but

deficiency sufficient to cause these symptoms is rare.

Although the evidence isn't strong, use of magnesium supplements may

help prevent a number of conditions including: hearing loss from

excessive noise, migraine headaches (including menstrual migraines),

menstrual pain and PMS.

Despite some claims to the opposite, there is some evidence

suggesting that oral magnesium supplements do NOT help prevent the

heart irregularity called atrial fibrillation, nor help prevent

kidney stones. Intravenous magnesium, rather than oral magnesium

supplements, is sometimes used in hospitals to treat acute asthma,

overdoses of certain drugs, osmotic coma, diabetic ketoacidosis,

pancreatitis, hyperthyroidism, hepatitis, and other conditions " "

Hope this helps you some although I doubt it *L*
