Guest guest
Is the surgeon you called theone who did your whipple? If so, then make an appt to see him. I would gather up all your ct scans, the films themselves, all your lab work and anything else from thelocal hospital and take it with you when you go to see him. It may be a kidney stone, they are awfull and up there in the pain level with pancreaatitis; however, it could be the tail acting up. Your surgeon should be able to tell by looking at the scans or he may want you to have a mrcp or other tests to rule out and determine what is the problem. Well your pcp is actually following the latest trends in health care. Directing care to more specialized groups. More and more hospitals are hiring Hospitalist. these are MD who do nothing but care for a pt while there in the hospital for a variety of reasons. A lot of pcp's dont even have admitting privledges as they often refer pts to more specialized md's. For all accounts and purposes my surgeon has been the one directing my care ever since I had my very first ache. I had seen a pancreatic endoscopist and the 2 of them have been making the decisions. I get my pain meds from my pcp, but I think she is getting a little tired of my calling every few weeks. Seems like I have to get a little bitchy to get my scripts. Well I hope all of this will be a thing of the past soon enough. Make an appt. with your surgeon, get the scans and labs then go talk with him. Take everything with you; dont depend on the hospital to send it. They screw up on that stuff all the time. Iknow 250 miles is a long way, but its not going to get any shorter. Are you going to get any better? Take care, Chrissy
