Guest guest
How are you doing? Its been 5 months now hasn't it. I remember the date because I was originally scheduled for the same date, Sept 24, the day before my birthday. But the doc turned me down, it all worked out in the long run. How are the blood sugars? I am taking very little insulin, 1 unit for every 25 grams of carbs after 50 grams, so I really dont take much at all. 50 grams is a lot. I check my sugar very often and seldon go above 135 and usually stay in the 90's so I think that is a great sign. Do you have to go see Dr, Sutherland for a follow up? They told me they wanted me to come back to Cincy at about 6 months post op. I'm not really looking forward to that. Seems like a big expense for nothing. How long after the surgery did you have pain? I still have pain but its not the same, but its definetly pain. The doc told me it was no big deal and nothing to worry about. How's your energy level? Seems lately I have been very weak and tired but I think I may have caught a bug from one of my kids, not sure, but thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Hows your son? I'm sure the winter weather has him climbing the walls. We dont have much of a winter down here, but it sure does drive me nuts. This weekend is supposed to be warm sunny and in the 60's, gotta love the south. Sorry for all the questions but there are not too many folks out there like us. Unfortunetly! Take care, Chrissy
Guest guest
Hi Darren; its really great to hear from you. So I guess its normal to have this achey pain. I saw my doc last week and he said that iti is not phantom pain but that basically there was a lot of cutting and sewing going on in my belly and it will take time to heal. Somebody told me that it could take up to a year for ones body to fully adjust to the changes. I take vicodan when I need to. Usually in the latter part of the afternoon. Other then that, miralax, a multi vit, and creon is all I take, and occassionally some advil. But if your pain did not go away until about a month ago I guess I am on the right track. I also have had a great deal more energy lately, the weekend was great. It was sunny and in the 60's. I live in the country too, on 16 acres which is mostly a wooded forrest. We are next to the national forrest. So it is very wooded and isolated but only about 25 miles from the city. Pretty cool. My kids and I walked for 2 hours on saturday and I did feel it on sunday, was really sore. I have been thinking about going back to the gym soon. But what I really really need to do is find a new job. Been looking, we'll see. Your right about the foot, you do need to be extra careful. I think my sugars would be a lot more stable if I didn';t have this sweet tooth..lol. I can go all day long and not eat a thing, but once the kids go to bed, I just cant stop snacking. I dont know if its the peace and quiet or the TV that does it to me. Maybe its because they snack all day...I dont know. Thats pretty cool your being able to snowmobiling and do the other things you enjoy. Its like a miracle isn't it. Have ya'll gotten more snow lately? Do you know that I have never seen real snow in my life. Ive seen ton snow, but its not like what ya'll get and its very rare, once or twice in my entire life. Well I gotta run, was thinking about taking a walk on the beach today. Its gonna be around 70 degrees, then this weekend will be cold again, so I want to get there while I can and take a long walk. I love the beach and could never live inland. I'll look for a job tomorrow...LOL! Keep in touch and I am so very very glad that you are doing so well.
