Guest guest
No I am trying to get a job at the DDC in the Endoscopy Unit. I have worked at MUSC ever since I graduated from nursing school there 10 years ago. The last 5 years or so I have worked with the ORs but formally resigned my position last July. It will be 12 weeks since my surgey next week and I am looking forward to getting my life back in order. I am feeling so much better. Today I took a long walk with my dogs, for over an hour, and threw the frisbee and ball around for them, it was great. I am thinking about going back to the gym too. I need to take it slow tho, I have had 3 major panc surgeries in the 11 months. A shpincteroplasty October of 03, a Beger in March of 04 then the Total with auto islet cell transplant last November. So I think it may take a little longer then most to get my strength back completely. Some say it takes over a year for your body to recoup after a total. The DDC is an excellent group I would love to have an opportunity to work there. All I am asking for is an interview. Well we'll see. When will you be coming down to see them? How are you feeling? Do you see Cotton or Hawes? If you come down maybe we can meet. Well keep your fingers crossed for me about the job. I think I would be perfect for it. I have the expereince, used to recover ERCP pts, then did pre op prep, and of course my personal experience. I think it would be best to keep my personal history to myself. But I do have the understanding of how the pts feel. Keep in touch and let me know how it is going with you. I hope your feeling better tho. Warmly, > > Did you work in the DDC? If so, when were you there...I might have > met you and not even known it! :0)--Kim S.
Guest guest
i am in texas......there is pre-k and head start, head start is for low income families, but it is for those who make less than 55,000 a year, so yeah we qualified, adn there are 8 classes of 19 and a waiting list of 42...i am on the policy council which is only for head start and we hire.fire, spend the money (it is totally government funded) anything that has to do with it we do, adn believe me if i get nowhere with the school i will take it to the meeting thursday, and tehn to the school board next monday and if THAT don't work, i will write a letter to the paper.....then we will see...........with that being said, it is a totally government funded program, and days aren;t supposed to matter, which is what i was told when i signed her up last march, but they will get the money regardless, and i am always up there volunteering because they have to have so many hours of volunters so i do my share so i know most of the rules for the pp[rogram, she goes just like regular school, 5 days a week, 740 through 245..........i called in to work and said i would be late because the more i think about it the madder i get so i am getting this taken care of tomorrow kimc wrote: > Hi , What state do you live in? You said the Kyla was in pre-k, right? I have a non-rss son who is in pre-k this year too. I live in Florida, and this is the first year they are implementing the voluntary universal pre-k program. I have to say the state was not organized at ll in planning for this, and there aren't enough spaces for all 4 year olds. 's school sent home a letter at he beginning of the year that states he cannot miss more than 26 days this year or else he will be ineligible for the VPK program. Since he is in a private preschool, I am sure they do not know about nor write IEPs. Granted, doesn't need one, but Kyla most likely will need one once she gets into kindergarten (providing that she is not attending preschool in your school district now). If she doesn't qualify for an IEP, she should at least qualify for a 504 plan. If she is in a private preschool now, I think that is why you are getting the runaround. Do you pay for preschool? Here in FL, the voluntary pre-k program is free to all families regardless of income for 3 hours per day. If you have a similar program in your state, they will not get paid by the state if your child is absent more than the specified number of times allowed. And, unfortunately, I doubt it matters to them whether or not your child has a disability or a medical cause, because they would say the program is voluntary. goes full-time to school, so I pay the difference between what the state pays & the regular full-time tuition. However, if he were absent more than 26 days, he would no longer be eligible for VPK, and I would have to pay for those 3 hours per day too. If this is the reason you are having the problem in preschool, I doubt very much you will face the same issues when Kyla attends kindergarten. Does Kyla qualify for any types of therapy in your school district (speech, occupational, or physical?). , my RSS son, went to a special needs preschool for free & received all of his therapies there through part H (I think this is now called something else in FL). There was a nurse on staff, and it was never questioned when he was absent for illnesses. Having an IEP qualified him for this type of school as well as being considered medically fragile. Again, I am not sure how this is handled in your state, but it might be something worth looking into if you think Kyla would qualify. Guest guest
Thanks for explaining about the brace to me. I think Jack will soon get fed up with wearing one if he has to . You and your son have done very well to put up with it all that time but I guess you just get on with it when you have to. We will have to wait and see, I still haven't heard if we have managed to get an appointment for Friday or not regarding this. I'm certain I will be in touch again in the near future. Thanks Judy.
